Step 1. |
To begin, you need to get into the Outlook
properties. To do this, locate the Microsoft
Outlook icon on your desktop and right click
on it. A menu will pop up similar to the one
to the right. Click on Properties. |
| |
Step 2. |
Click on the Show Profiles button. |
| |
Step 3. |
This screen shows the different profiles configured on
your machine. You may already have a profile installed
automatically by Windows. You can ignore this. Click
on the Add button to begin to create a new
profile. |
| |
Step 4.
Outlook will now ask you to give the profile a name.
Type your first initial and last name here and click
OK. |
| |
Step 5. |
Click 'Add a new e-mail account' and then
Next. |
| |
| Step 6. |
Select the POP3 button and click Next.
| |
| Step 7. |
In this window, you will
enter the
information about your e-mail account.
For the User Name, enter
your e-mail account user name (including
the @ sign and your domain name).
For
your Password, enter the password that
was set up by InterCity Services.
The Server Information fields should
have exactly the same information as shown:
Incoming Main Server: pop3.intercityweb.com
Outgoing Mail Server:
barracuda.intercityweb.com (The Outgoing mail server will be your ISPs
server information. You may need to contact
your ISP for this.
If you are using InterCity Services for your
outgoing mail, enter:
barracuda.intercityweb.com.)
Then click on More Settings. |
| |
| Step 8. |
In this window, you may wish to enter a
different reply E-mail address. If not, leave
it as your E-mail address. When you
are done, click on the Advanced tab. |
| |
| Step 9. |
In this tab, make sure your settings match
those pictured in the example. Click OK. This
will return you to your main settings window. Click the
Test Account Settings button. |
| |
| Step 10. |
If
any errors occur, there probably is
something improperly configured in your
settings. Check them over for mistakes such as
typos and then try the test again. Ideally,
the test window should appear as it does in
the example above. Click 'Close', 'OK', and
then 'Next'. |
| |
| Step 11. |
When all the settings have been entered, and
the test completed, this window will appear
alerting you that your account has finished
being set up. Click Finish. |
| |
| Step 12. |
When you are returned to this window, make
sure the button, 'Always use this profile' is
selected and the name of the new profile, (jdoe
in this example), is shown in the field at the
bottom of the window. Click OK.
The
first time you run Outlook, you may be prompted to
set up Outlook again through a wizard. You will want
to just skip through this. At the screen that asks
you if you have used Outlook before, click No. At
the screen that asks which information service you
want to use, click on Internet Only and click Next. This should take you into Outlook and
you can begin. |
